Confined Space Training Course List:

Conf. Space Rescue Industry non IDLH EOCP -1.6 CEU's

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 2 days;
Instructed in translation – 4 days
Course Format: Classroom and practical exercises
Certification: Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion
Pre-requisites: Nil

This course is intended for individuals that will be employed as rescue persons in a confined space
capacity, but not in an IDLH environment. Personnel are trained in not only the hazards and entry
requirements of confined spaces, but also some of the required rescue competencies as outlined in
NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670. The competencies include but are not limited to, ropes and knots,
hazard recognition and appropriate control measures, patient packaging, atmospheric monitoring
and toxicology. The course concludes with practical scenarios of varying difficulty in multiple types
of confined spaces.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

• Identify types and classes of confined spaces
• Comprehend regulations in regards to confined space rescue
• Utilize hazard recognition and mitigation techniques
• Perform basic emergency scene management
• Understand and utilize confined space documentation
• Choose appropriate ventilation types and techniques
• Choose and operate personal protective equipment
• Understand toxicology in relation to monitoring
• Use atmospheric monitoring equipment
• Understand team positions and responsibilities
• Rig rescue systems for confined spaces
• Understand tripod rigging and use
• Build simple and compound mechanical advantage systems
• Utilize rescue ropes and tie applicable knots

Confined Space Awareness, Entry and Standby EOCP -0.7 CEU's

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 1 day;
Instructed in translation – 2 days
Course Format: Classroom and practical exercises
Certification: Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion
Pre-requisites: Nil

This course is intended for any personnel that will be entering, working in, providing standby for or
monitoring confined spaces. Real case scenarios are examined. This program meets the training
requirements that allow workers to enter and work in confined spaces as required by applicable
provincial/state or international regulations. This training includes not only the applicable
regulations, but also air monitoring and scenario based evolutions based on the company’s
procedures. The course consists of both a classroom lecture in confined spaces and practical
scenarios in entry procedures.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

• Define a confined space
• Identify types of confined spaces
• Explain the different hazard types found in spaces
• Mitigate hazards and perform control techniques
• Understand applicable provincial/state or international regulations
• Utilize personal protective equipment
• Understand the major causes of fatalities/accidents

Confined Space for Supervisors

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 1/2 day;
Instructed in translation – 1 day
Course Format: Classroom and practical exercises
Certification: Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion
Pre-requisites: Confined Space Awareness, Entry and Standby

This course is intended for any personnel that will be managing a work site that contains confined
spaces and/or a worksite where employees enter confined spaces. Real case scenarios are examined.
This program meets the training requirements for supervisors of sites that contain confined spaces as
required by applicable regulations. This training includes not only the applicable regulations, but
also a more comprehensive air monitoring theory and practical training session as well as scenario
based evolutions based on the company’s procedures.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

• Understand applicable laws governing supervision duties
• Understand the responsibilities of the employer, employee and supervisor for confined
  space safety
• Understand the governing bodies and regulations regarding confined spaces
• Understand the expectations and training requirements employees entering confined
  spaces require
• Show a working knowledge of major causes of fatalities/accidents
• Comprehend the requirements of a confined space entry program
• Perform atmospheric monitoring and understand toxicology
• Know when, where and why confined space documentation is required

Confined Space Rescue for Industry (IDLH)

Course Format: Classroom and practical exercises

Pre-requisites: Nil

This course is intended for individuals that will be employed as rescue persons for confined space
entries, in an immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) environment. Personnel are trained in recognizing hazards and the entry requirements of confined spaces, as well as some of the required rescue competencies as outlined in NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670. These include but are not limited to, ropes and knots, hazard recognition and appropriate control measures, patient packaging, atmospheric monitoring and toxicology. The course concludes with practical scenarios of varying difficulty in multiple types of confined spaces.

At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

• Identify types and classes of confined spaces
• Understand local safe work regulations in regards to confined spaces
• Utilize hazard recognition and mitigation techniques
  Utilize the incident command system and basic emergency scene magement
• Choose appropriate ventilation types and techniques
• Choose and operate personal protective equipment
• Use atmospheric monitoring equipment
• Understand team positions and responsibilities
• Use supplied air respirators and/or self contained breathing apparatus
• Rig rescue systems for confined spaces
• Understand tripod rigging and use
• Build simple and compound mechanical advantage systems
• Utilize rescue ropes and tie applicable knots
• Package a patient in an appropriate device

Confined Space Rescue Technician

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 5 days;
Instructed in translation – 10 days
Course Format: Classroom and practical exercises
Certification: Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion
Pre-requisites: Nil

This course is intended for individuals that will be employed as rescue persons in a confined space
capacity. Personnel are trained in not only the hazards and entry requirements of confined spaces,
but will also acquire the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively coordinate, perform, and
supervise a technical confined space rescue incident. The student will acquire skills and knowledge
of ropes and knots, respiratory and communication systems, hazard recognition and appropriate
control measures, patient packaging, atmospheric monitoring, advanced concepts in incident
command, rescue strategies and tactics, rope based rescue systems, site management, team
leadership, equipment and resource management, information gathering and utilization, advanced
rescue techniques, technical rescue pre-planning and rescue scene management and toxicology.
This program meets the training requirements for basic and general entry operations as determined
by most state/provincial regulatory bodies and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670
Confined Space Rescue Technician Level.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

• Identify types and classes of confined spaces
• Understand local safe work regulations in regards to confined spaces
• Utilize hazard recognition and mitigation techniques
• Utilize the incident command system and basic emergency scene management
• Choose appropriate ventilation types and techniques
