Rope Rescue 1

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 4 days;

This NFPA operations-level technical rope rescue course is an introduction to rope rescue, utilizing simple, logical steps with skill based and scenario training. Students advance from basic over-the-bank rescues to progressively more vertical scenarios. The course includes operating as a member of a rope rescue team; utilizing knots, hitches and anchor systems; belay operations; ascending and descending; raising and lowering systems; patient packaging and litter attending, among other skills and techniques.
The requirements for the Rope Rescue Awareness and Operations portion of NFPA 1006/1670 Standard for technical rope rescue are met in this course.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Safely operate in a rope rescue environment
Utilize ropes and knots
Utilize hardware and software in relation to rope rescue
Build and use lowering systems
Construct and utilize raising systems
Ascend a fixed rope
Construct and utilize appropriate simple mechanical advantage
Perform pick offs
Perform line transfers

Rope Rescue 2 Technician

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 4 days;
Instructed in translation – 8 days
Course Format: Mix of classroom and practical
Certification: Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion
Pre-requisites: Rope rescue 1 or equivalent

This NFPA technician-level technical rope rescue class is an intense and demanding course, utilizing more complex scenarios than Rope rescue 1.. The course includes preplanning and size-up of rope rescue operations; utilizing multiple and load sharing anchor systems; belay operations; ascending and descending rope around obstacles; raising and lowering systems; patient packaging and litter attending, among other skills and techniques.
The requirements for the Rope Rescue Technician portion of NFPA 1006/1670 Standard for technical rope
rescue are met in this course.

At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Safely operate in a rope rescue environment
Act as a Team lead for a rope rescue scenario
Transition difficult edges
Construct and utilize appropriate simple and complex mechanical advantage systems
Understand critical angles
Pass a knot through a system
Identify special hazards
Build a highline system

Trench Rescue Technician

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 3 days;

This program is designed for anyone who works around open trenches or areas where there is a
possibility of an earth collapse. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge through extensive
field exercises along with various classroom activities to conduct basic trench rescue operations.
Participants will complete hands-on training with trench rescue equipment, shoring panels and
realistic trench rescue scenarios. This program meets the training requirements for National Fire
Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 Trench Rescue Technician Level.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Understand applicable regulations for excavations/trenching
Utilize shoring systems
Conduct hazard recognition and control methods
Identify soil classification and mechanics
Identify types of collapses
Care for a patient

Water Rescue

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 3 days;

Course Format: 1 day classroom and 2 days practical exercises

Pre-requisites: The ability to swim

Participants in this Water Rescue course will receive skills and knowledge around identifying risks,
self-rescue and low-risk options for rescuing others. This course is desirable training for anyone who
works in this high risk environment including firefighters, rescuers, resource management personnel
and outdoor guides. This program meets the training requirements for National Fire Protection
Agency (NFPA) 1670 water search and rescue technician level.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Understand water dynamics and water-related physiology
Respond to the signs and symptoms of significant medical problems related to water
Posses a working knowledge of water rescue equipment
Function with helicopters as a rescue asset
Rescue and extricate a patient from the water
Safely swim and maneuver so as to negotiate river hazards and obstacles

Rescue Boat

Participants in the rescue boat course will obtain the skills and knowledge to operate a rigid hull
inflatable boat in a rescue environment. This course is designed for rescuers that will be utilizing a
rescue boat for emergency operations. It is a necessity for personnel who work on or near the water.

Participants in this program will obtain the skills and knowledge to rescue patients trapped in a
vehicle. This program is ideal for any persons who have the responsibility of extracting patients from
machinery including vehicles.
This program covers accident scene management, air bag technology, new vehicle construction and
design, alternative fuel vehicles, tools and equipment and extrication techniques. This program can
also cover other styles of vehicles such as armored vehicles and aircraft and procedures for seamless
liaising with other operational personnel such as security or support elements if requested. This
program meets the training requirements for National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 vehicle
rescue technician level.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Perform inner/outer circle- scene assessment

This course is a theory based course on survival after becoming lost, suffering a vehicle breakdown
or surviving a plane crash. It is essential for any person who travels through or over remote areas.
Specific survival techniques for the client’s specific climate are taught.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Understand the fundamentals of Survival rule of 3s, mindset, decision tree (move or stay
put), etc.
Build a basic shelter building

Outdoor Survival 2

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 3 days

Pre-requisites: Outdoor Survival 1

A Practical Skills course using knowledge gained in Outdoor Survival-1 in a live multi-day scenario.
This course will ensure persons who travel through or over remote areas have the knowledge and
experience to survive for extended periods of time with minimal supplies. This course is physically
and mentally challenging and participants will be required to survive for 3 days in a remote area,
with minimal supplies in order to complete the program.
This highly interactive training will require participants to perform the tasks listed below during the
following schedule:

Day 1

Review basic survival techniques from OS 1
Arrive at bivouac area
Build your shelter
Build your fire
Gather your water and food

Day 2

“Bush” Craft
Make and set traps and snares and go fishing if able
Perform signaling and land navigation
Treat water
Perform advanced fire making skills
Understand basic plant and animal identification, edible, uses, etc

Day 3

Perform survival first aid
Break camp
Back to vehicles

Aviation Egress Training

This program is recommended for anyone who travels by air. Whether you fly for vacation, work or
pleasure, this program will teach you what you need to survive an aircraft ditching. This program will
require students to be submersed in water.
At the end of this highly interactive training, participants will be able to:

Understand types of ditching scenarios
Perform ditching procedures & techniques
Perform aircraft egress during an emergency
Utilize survival equipment (aircraft & personal)
Understand sea survival techniques & hypothermia
Stay safe during emergency situations involving an aircraft
Utilize a life preserver (inflation, swimming)
Utilize a life raft (righting from inverted position, boarding, equipment & use)
Exit the underwater egress trainer (normal egress doors on/off, blocked exit, night ditching)

Wildlife/Predatory Animal Awareness

Course Duration: Instructed in English – 2 hours;

This course is a theory based course on surviving an encounter with a predatory animal. It is essential for any person who travels through or over remote areas.
Specific survival techniques for different animals are instructed. Our staff has worldwide experience in dealing with a variety of wildlife ranging from insects to grizzly and polar bears.

Know which animals to fight and which to play dead with
Know how to make yourself a less inviting meal

training requirements for National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 wilderness search and rescue and the competencies outlined by the National SAR Secretariat of Canada.
