This NFPA technician-level technical rope rescue class is an intense and demanding course, utilizing more complex scenarios than Rope rescue 1.. The course includes preplanning and size-up of rope rescue operations; utilizing multiple and load sharing anchor systems; belay operations; ascending and descending rope around obstacles; raising and lowering systems; patient packaging and litter attending, among other skills and techniques.
The requirements for the Rope Rescue Technician portion of NFPA 1006/1670 Standard for technical rope
rescue are met in this course.

This program is designed for anyone who works around open trenches or areas where there is a
possibility of an earth collapse. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge through extensive
field exercises along with various classroom activities to conduct basic trench rescue operations.
Participants will complete hands-on training with trench rescue equipment, shoring panels and
realistic trench rescue scenarios. This program meets the training requirements for National Fire
Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 Trench Rescue Technician Level.

Participants in this Water Rescue course will receive skills and knowledge around identifying risks,
self-rescue and low-risk options for rescuing others. This course is desirable training for anyone who
works in this high risk environment including firefighters, rescuers, resource management personnel
and outdoor guides. This program meets the training requirements for National Fire Protection
Agency (NFPA) 1670 water search and rescue technician level.

Participants in this program will obtain the skills and knowledge to rescue patients trapped in a
vehicle. This program is ideal for any persons who have the responsibility of extracting patients from
machinery including vehicles.
This program covers accident scene management, air bag technology, new vehicle construction and
design, alternative fuel vehicles, tools and equipment and extrication techniques. This program can
also cover other styles of vehicles such as armored vehicles and aircraft and procedures for seamless
liaising with other operational personnel such as security or support elements if requested. This
program meets the training requirements for National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 vehicle
rescue technician level.

A Practical Skills course using knowledge gained in Outdoor Survival-1 in a live multi-day scenario.
This course will ensure persons who travel through or over remote areas have the knowledge and
experience to survive for extended periods of time with minimal supplies. This course is physically
and mentally challenging and participants will be required to survive for 3 days in a remote area,
with minimal supplies in order to complete the program.

training requirements for National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1670 wilderness search and rescue and the competencies outlined by the National SAR Secretariat of Canada.
